Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 17, 2026

CarStem IQ is operated by KnightOps Digital Holdings, LLC. This Policy explains, in plain language, what CarStem collects, why it is used, when outside services are involved, and the choices you have.

1

What CarStem Collects

CarStem IQ collects the information needed to operate the features you use. This can include account details; vehicle identity and specifications; VIN, mileage and ownership records; service, maintenance, fuel and expense records; symptoms and diagnostic inputs; OBD/ECU data, DTCs, supported signals and drive-session evidence; uploaded photos, documents and receipts; AI conversations and generated reports; subscription status; notification/device identifiers; and app reliability or error records. Missing vehicle data remains unknown rather than being filled in as healthy or normal.

2

Vehicle, OBD & Drive Evidence

When you connect an OBD adapter or use vehicle-intelligence features, CarStem may record timestamped telemetry, ECU-reported diagnostic evidence, adapter/session identifiers, drive events, report artifacts and learned vehicle baselines. This history lets CarStem compare the same vehicle over time. A DTC tells CarStem what an ECU reported; it does not by itself prove which physical component failed. Generated issue visuals are inspection references, not photographs proving your vehicle's exact condition.

3

Optional Location & Weather

Location access is optional and requires your permission. If enabled, precise location may be used temporarily for SOS/nearby help, regional repair-cost context and a current local weather lookup. Precise coordinates are not saved to your persistent vehicle history or profile. Derived environmental observations such as temperature, humidity, pressure, wind, weather code, source and observation time may be retained with vehicle or drive evidence. Vehicle-reported ambient/barometric sensors outrank location-derived weather when available. Weather can contextualize behavior but cannot independently create, clear or prove a mechanical fault.

4

AI & Automated Processing

CarStem openly uses AI and automated analysis for plain-English explanations, diagnostic reasoning support, repair guidance, image or document analysis, vehicle-data interpretation, generated reference visuals and some research tasks. Information relevant to the feature you request may be sent to AI or search/service providers to perform that task. AI output can be incomplete or wrong and is not treated as physical proof of a failed component. CarStem applies evidence and source guardrails where available, but safety-critical repair decisions should still be verified with appropriate vehicle testing or a qualified professional.

5

Public & Third-Party Data Sources

CarStem may use public, manufacturer, government, automotive, mapping, weather or other external data sources to verify vehicle identity, recalls, DTC definitions, service information, manuals, pricing context and related vehicle facts. Source availability and accuracy can change. CarStem records provenance where the feature supports it and does not treat an unavailable source as evidence that a condition is absent.

6

Photos, Documents & Files

Files you choose to upload may be stored and processed to provide features such as receipt extraction, service history, vehicle inspection, document analysis and repair guidance. Relevant files or extracted content may be sent to service providers, including AI processors, when needed for the feature you requested. You retain ownership of your uploads.

7

Payments & Subscriptions

Web billing may be processed by Stripe. Native subscriptions may be processed by Apple or Google and managed through RevenueCat. Those providers handle payment credentials under their own terms and privacy practices. CarStem may receive and retain subscription status, entitlement state, transaction or customer references and purchase/restore results needed to provide paid features; CarStem does not need to store your full payment-card number to provide the App.

8

How We Use Data

We use data to provide and secure your account; identify and remember your vehicles; operate diagnostics, telemetry, drive logs, reports and maintenance tools; personalize vehicle-specific comparisons; answer AI-assisted questions; provide SOS and optional location-based features; deliver notifications; restore purchases; investigate failures or abuse; and improve reliability and product quality. We do not use optional weather or location context to secretly manufacture a diagnosis or CarStem Score.

9

Sharing & Service Providers

KnightOps Digital Holdings, LLC does not sell your personal information or vehicle data to advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose the minimum information reasonably needed to providers that operate CarStem features, such as hosting/authentication, AI processing, weather or mapping, payments/subscriptions, notifications and other infrastructure services; to a recipient you direct us to share with; or when disclosure is legally required. Those providers process information under their own applicable terms, agreements and privacy practices.

10

Storage, Retention & Security

CarStem retains account and vehicle records for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain evidence/history you choose to keep, meet operational or legal obligations, and complete deletion workflows. Some temporary session data expires sooner; backups, security logs or processor records may persist for limited periods. We use access controls, tenant isolation, encrypted network transport and platform security controls where available. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

11

Your Choices & Deletion

You can decline location permission and continue using CarStem without location-derived features. You can update vehicle/account information through available controls and can initiate account deletion in the App. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction or objection. Some records may need to be retained temporarily where required for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations or completion of a pending deletion process. Contact us if an in-app control does not cover your request.

12

Children, International Use & Policy Changes

CarStem IQ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Data may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable law. We may update this Policy as CarStem changes; we will update the date above and provide additional notice for material changes when appropriate or legally required.
